İstanbul
Last summer, i went to İstanbul with my best friend, and stayed for a week with her family there. It just so happens that she’s a shit hot photographer, too, and i was wandering idly through her Flickr a couple of days ago when i saw these, and remembered just how incredible that trip was. The view from the window of somewhere that Anane took us to get our nails done, promising that it...

Cottage Pie
Tonight, the mother of the family i work for made a cottage pie. A cottage pie for which i looked up and meticulously translated the recipe. (I think it was to make up for the fact that last tuesday night we had frogs legs, and as happy as i am to try new things - i have yet to say no to anything - i just cannot get excited about eating pond life. My english heart tells me it’s all wrong.) ...

Wednesday
My boyfriend took me to Cafe de l’Industrie in Bastille last night, it was delightful. I got drunk on two glasses of wine, we bought crepes from the miserable man on the corner, stumbled home from the metro tangled up in eachother and then stayed up all night. Not very culturally fulfilling, i know, but it’s how i spend my days. And i love it.

thenotsosecretdiary: Happy Birthday for yesterday! We were at le Leche Vin last night - except we’ve affectionately (although unimaginatively) dubbed it “Jesus and Porn” on account of the ridiculous amounts of religious memorabilia everywhere, and then the ridiculous amounts of hardcore pornography plastered all over the Turkish toilet walls. We were in L’Objectif Lune (literally two bars up...

My Nineteenth Vol. II
Yesterday morning i woke up to Jenn, Emma and Chess piled onto my bed in my tiny apartment, armed with a bunch of pink roses, a bottle of Jacobs Creek, a bag of pain au chocolats and Jenn with armfuls of birthday cards from home. We had an epic french breakfast in a sea of flowery wrapping paper and shredded envelopes, i had phonecalls from various family members, and then we (finally) decided we...

My Nineteenth Vol. I
Saturday, ninth of january was my birthday, perhaps my favourite day of the whole year. My first ever away from home, away from England, away from a cup of tea and my cards and presents in bed first thing in the morning. It was also my first in Paris, and Jenn had come to stay for the week, so i couldn’t help but feel that i should muster up a celebration that my nineteen years deserved.. ...

New Years
New Years was gorgeous. Me and the New Yorker spent the 31st in London, wandering through vintage shops in Victoria with Misli and Steve, then we walked into a massive black box in the Turbine hall in the Tate. It was art, darling. Obviously. Then we went back to Misli and Steve’s flat, had a drink (or 5) and marched through the mess of public transport and drunk people that was central for...
